Baggage Allowance

Baggage allowance for International flights is as follows:

Effective 01 June 2010, Air Mauritius will implement the “piece baggage concept” for travel on its services between Europe and Mauritius.

 

  • Business Class -  Three pieces of baggage of maximum 23 kg each {Total of 69 kg}
  • Economy Class   - One piece of baggage up to a maximum of 23 kg

Note: Each piece of baggage should not exceed 158 cm {Length + Width + Height}.

For any excess weight from 23 kg to 32 kg per piece of baggage, a fee will be charged as follows:

  • Ex-Mauritius - USD 100 or equivalent in MUR
  • Ex-Europe - EUR 100 or equivalent in local currency

Baggage exceeding 32 kg will not be accepted at check-in and will have to be sent by freight. Alternatively, pax can transfer the excess to a second piece of baggage and pay the applicable charge for the latter.

Baggage allowance for Inter Island Services is as follows:

Mauritius - Rodrigues only 15 KGs

  • If you have a connecting on another carrier different rules and conditions may apply.
  • Certain airports, including Mauritius, restrict the weight of any single piece of baggage to 32kg for health and safety reasons.
  • Although we take reasonable care in handling you baggage, it must be strong enough to withstand normal handling.
  • Your bag should bear a clearly visible tag or sticker with your name and ideally your telephone number.



Cabin Baggage

For hand baggage to be carried free of charge onboard, the following applies

  • Eonomy Class :One piece of baggage {55 x 35 x 25 cm} weighing not more that 7 kg plus one accessory e.g handbag or briefcase or camera or laptopor items of smaller or similar size of those mentioned before.
  • Business Class: Two pieces of baggage: [One piece dimension {55 x 35 x 25 cm}] Both weighing + not more than [One piece of smaller dimension {45 x 20 x 35cm}] 14 kg
    +
    One accessory e.g handbag or briefcase orCamera or laptop or items of smaller or
    Similar size of those mentioned before.

Valuable items 

We recommend you pack valuable items in your cabin baggage and keep them with you at all times.
Should you decide to pack them in your checked baggage, it is advisable you contract additional insurance cover as our liability is strictly limited. Click here

Medication

If you need to carry medication, we recommend you :
Place them in your hand baggage
Carry prescriptions as it may be required by security or customs officials.

Security
You are responsible for the contents of your baggage. If you accept an item from someone else, make sure you know the exact contents thereof.
Lock your baggage* and do not leave it unattended until checked in.

Security Checks and prohibited items

Items falling under the following categories will not be allowed in the cabin:

Blunt instruments,
• chemical and toxic substances,
• explosive and flammable substances
• firearms and weapons,
• pointed and sharp objects

At Air Mauritius we take security seriously and we have strict rules to deny boarding to any passenger who refuses to undergo security checks.
