Air Mauritius to fly Non Stop to Shanghai in 2012 Print

Air Mauritius is increasing its capacity to Shanghai by over 100% (from 14,300 seats to 31,200 seats annually) as from 26th of March 2012.

 
shanghai_skyThe current weekly Airbus A330 flight to Shanghai will no longer stopover in Kuala Lumpur and will be operated by the larger Airbus A340 aircraft according to the following schedules ( All times local and subject to slot clearances and approval from authorities) :

The airline will maintain its three weekly operations to Hong Kong and two weekly operations to Kuala Lumpur / Singapore hence offering the Chinese market 6 weekly options to Mauritius.

Sha_gardensAir Mauritius' direct operations has given a new boost to themarketing of Mauritius and the region in China and the objective of 10,000 Chinese tourists set for this year will be largely exceeded to reach around 14,000.

The decision to fly non-stop will allow Air Mauritius the opportunity to provide more capacity on the route and improve the product. 

There will  also be connections to Reunion, Madagascar and South Africa.

 
Air Mauritius operates its first flight to Shanghai Print

With over 200 passengers on board, the flight made short transit in Kuala Lumpur and arrived in Shanghai Airport (Pudong) on the 5th of July.  Passengers last night were greeted by a Lion Dance and a special ambiance to mark the occasion.

Air Mauritius had the privilege of welcoming His Excellency the President of the Republic and Lady Jugnauth, Honourable Bodha, Minister of Tourism and Leisure and Mr Didier Robert, President du Conseil Régional de la Réunion among other distinguished guests on this inaugural flight to Shanghai – a breakthrough also for the region as Air Mauritius becomes the first airline flying to Shanghai from this part of the World

shanghai-centerAndre Viljoen, the airline’s Officer in Charge announced that the present service to Shanghai will evolve to a nonstop flight in February 2012 ahead of the Chinese New Year and, and if demand follows, a second flight will be operated by October 2012

Air Mauritius hopes that its travel and cargo partners will take full advantage of this new flight for developing business to one of the world’s most exciting regions

The once weekly flight will be operated by an Airbus A330-200, with 24 seats in lie flat business class and 251 seats in economy class.

Air Mauritius offers daily connections between Athens and Mauritius, via Paris, and also offers customers connections via Milan, Frankfurt, Geneva and London.

A stopover in any of these European cities is also permitted when travelling on Air Mauritius flights to and from Mauritius.

Air Mauritius announces direct operations to China

 First flight to Shanghai scheduled for early July 2011

Air Mauritius is pleased to announce that it plans to operate flights to Shanghai, People's Republic of China, as from china-globeearly July 2011.

Shanghai will therefore be the 25th destination of the national airline and it's 4th in East Asia. Air Mauritius already flies to Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong.

The flight will fly via Kuala Lumpur and will offer connections from/to Reunion, Antananarivo and South Africa.

Shanghai is the most populous city of the People’s Republic of China and is also the center of finance and trade in this booming economy.

Shanghai is also a popular tourist destination renowned for its historical landmarks. Last year's World Expo attracted a record number of 73 million visitors and provided a unique opportunity to raise the profile of Shanghai as a truly global city.

sydAir Mauritius today resumed flights between Mauritius and Sydney. Flight MK 942 was given a very warm welcome on landing at Sydney airport by the Sydney Airport Corporation, officials of Air Mauritius and the media.

Manoj R K Ujoodha, G.O.S.K., CEO of Air Mauritius says “We are delighted to be today flying to Sydney, Australia’s largest city.

From today, our Australian operations will include a flight to Melbourne/Sydney and a direct flight to Perth.

This represents a significant boost in capacity on our Australian schedule in response to forecasted increase in demand.

We would like to thank our customers in Australia and we are particularly thankful to the Mauritian community in New South Wales, for their loyalty to the national airline.

Air Mauritius is pleased to announce a  new service to its passengers departing from Mauritius which will facilitate them by providing departure information on their flights through  SMS.

mobile_phoneThis new service will allow passengers to reconfirm the time of departure of their flight without having to call a telephone operator by sending only one SMS.

All that is required is the following

For departures on the same day  passengers can type in the SMS their flight nbr e.g.  MK034 and send it to 2559090

For departures between from 24 hours- 72 hours , it is necessary to type in the date as well  e..g MK034 15Jul ( a space between the flight and the date)

A reply  with the departure time will be sent through an SMS.

Air Mauritius passes EASA audit Print

Air Mauritius passed today its yearly EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) audit with zero finding!

acraft_maintenance Air Mauritius Technical Services is approved by the EASA as a PART 145 Maintenance Organisation. This approval is a label of high quality and safety in the field of aircraft maintenance.

It allows Air Mauritius Technical Services to maintain Air Mauritius aircraft to a very high standard and also to perform maintenance of customers’ aircraft registered in Europe.

 The audit is performed every year to ensure that the different aspects of the maintenance organization are compliant with the applicable EASA Regulations and Requirements.

 Manoj R.K. Ujoodha, G.O.S.K., Air Mauritius CEO said: ” We are delighted that the audit went through without a single finding.

This is an achievement in itself and I would like to congratulate and thank the Technical Services team for their efforts in ensuring these results. Safety in an airline is a journey and not a destination. This is why we all need to continue to strive hard to maintain our safety standards.

 

 
Air Mauritius Increases Frequencies to UK (London) Print
londonAir Mauritius has today announced an increase of its weekly frequencies from three flights currently operated this Northern Winter (November 2009 to March 2010) to five flights next Winter (November 2010 to March 2011).

An additional frequency will be operated during the peak period leading to six frequencies at specific times of the year.


Air Mauritius will operate four flights during the Northern Summer (April to October 2010). An additional frequency is also planned during the peak period.

Mr R K Ujoodha, G.O.S.K., Air Mauritius CEO, says:

 “This move by Air Mauritius translates into increases of up to 67% of the weekly capacity currently scheduled and should provide the necessary momentum for growth of the UK market towards a daily frequency as soon as the market is ready.

It comes at an opportune time as Mauritius gears itself to welcome one million tourists this year”.
 
Air Mauritius wins the award Indian Ocean Leading Ailine Print

The airlines nominated in this category were Air France, South African Airways, Air Seychelles, Air Austral and Air Madagascar. The award was presented to Mr. Kamal Taposeea, Chairman of Air Mauritius by Mr. Graham Cooke, President and Founder of the World Travel Awards at the spectacular Gala Ceremony held on Saturday 7th November 2009 at Grosvenor House, A JW Marriott Hotel in London The awards are described by the Wall Street Journal as the “Oscars" of the global travel and tourism industry.

They are recognized as helping to raise levels of supreme customer service, innovation, and creativity, as well as encouraging high standards of overall business performance. Over 1,600 senior management and decision makers from the world’s travel and tourism industry were in attendance. The Miss World 2009 contestants stood behind the tourism leaders of their respective countries to lend their support.

Air Mauritius also competed for the coveted title of World’s Leading Airline among the very best airline brands in the world including British Airways, Air New Zealand, American Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Lufthansa Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas Airways, Singapore Airlines, South African Airways, Swiss International Airways, and Virgin Atlantic Airways.

Air Mauritius takeks delivery of its new Airbus A330-200 aircraft Print

A330_200_2Air Mauritius took delivery of its new Airbus A330-200 aircraft  in Toulouse recently.

Named  after the legendary aquatic plant Nénuphar, which grows in abundance at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanic Garden at Pamplemousses, the aircraft will together with the first A330-200 Trochetia delivered in 2007, improve our regional offer and will be mainly deployed on medium haul routes in India, Asia and Australia.

The aircraft is equipped with GE CF6 engines and will be operated in a two class configuration

  • 24 lie-flat business class
  • and 251 economy class seats.

It features fly-by-wire controls and shares the unique cockpit commonality across the entire Airbus Family. This allows flight crews to fly each aircraft of the family with minimal additional training.

Mr. Manoj R.K. Ujoodha, G.O.S.K, the airline’s CEO, who was in Toulouse to take delivery of the aircraft stated: “This new aircraft is a milestone in the history of the airline as it emerges from very challenging times for the aviation industry worldwide. Air Mauritius is, in fact, looking at the future with renewed confidence as it plans to grow capacity worldwide next year. The improvement in our regional offering represents a new opportunity to enhance our overall offering to our customers and partners.”
