JOHANNESBURG

Johannesburg which is the economic heart of South Africa, also known as eGoli (place of gold), is the largest and most populous city in South Africa (2,5-million people).

The city is affectionately known as Jo'burg, Jozi and JHB by South Africans and is the provincial capital of Gauteng,

Johanneburg’s lifestyle is a fast-paced and hectic one.For those interested in South Africa’s history and culture, Johannesburg offers fascinating museums. such as Apartheid Museum and the Hector Pieterson Museum. A thriving café culture and a thrumming nightlife exist in many of Johannesburg’s suburbs.

Although Johannesburg is considered more a transit point for tourists, a visit to the Gold Reef City is certainly worthwhile. A large amusement park to the south of the Central Business District, is also a large draw for tourists in the city.

The Johannesburg Zoo is also one of the largest in South Africa. Johannesburg is an amazing city, did you know that there are six million trees in Johannesburg.

On satellite pictures, the city looks like a rain forest, even though it is man-made! There are 1.2 million trees within the parks and on the pavements, and 4.8 million in private gardens throughout the suburbs.

Johannesburg can be considered as the gateway for other important destinations in South Africa.


Pretoria, capital of South Africa, is only 35- 45 minutes drive away, 58 kilometres to the north. The outer suburbs of Pretoria and Johannesburgs touch. In Pretoria you will find Capital Station, where the luxurious trains of Rovos Rail commence their journeys.

Kruger National Park, is approximately 1 hours flying time away and or five to 6 hours by car. This renown reserve is approximately the size of Israel, the Kruger Park, and is the greatest of South Africa's many national parks ( two million hectacres) and attracts a great number of visitors. On guided walks, game drives or self-drive, visitors have the best chance of spotting the Big Five (elephant, lion, leopard, rhino and buffalo)

Madikwe Game Reserve can be reached from Johannesburg by air in approximately one hour and 5hours by car. This reserve is one of the largest private big five game reserves in South Africa. Malaria free, it features a number of lodges and camps, ranging from luxurious to comfortable

Sun City and Pilanesberg are also easily accessible from Johannesburg- Sun City is well known as a one stop entertainment resort, which is frequented by a number of international celebrities. It offers a variety of hotels, excellent golfing and fun for families. Guests can also enjoy the experience of game drive or safari, by visiting the nearby Pilanesberg National Park. Durban, the most accessible coastal resort, is a six hour drive, all of it along a multilane highway.
