Selecting a Seat - Seat selection in all classes is possible at the time of booking i.e. window or aisle

Do not forget to request your seat assignment from your local travel agency or Air Mauritius office.



Check In times

Check-in counters open three hours before departure.

As a general rule to avoid unpleasant surprises caused by airport congestion and security procedures we recommend you arrive at airports no later than 2 hours before.

However, passengers are strongly advised to check applicable local airport requirements.

Check-in deadline is 45 minutes before departure.

For the convenience of our passengers travelling in  Business class as well as Elite card holders, dedicated Check-in counters are available at all airports (except Reunion and Rodrigues)

Valuable items

We recommend you pack valuable items in your cabin baggage and keep them with you at all times.

Should you decide to pack them in your checked baggage, it is advisable you contract additional insurance cover as our liability is strictly limited. Click here

Medication

If you need to carry medication, we recommend you :

Place them in your hand baggage
Carry prescriptions as it may be required by security or customs officials.

Security

You are responsible for the contents of your baggage. If you accept an item from someone else, make sure you know the exact contents thereof.

Lock your baggage* and do not leave it unattended until checked in.

Security Checks and prohibited items

Items falling under the following categories will not be allowed in the cabin:

Blunt instruments,
• chemical and toxic substances,
• explosive and flammable substances
• firearms and weapons,
• pointed and sharp objects

At Air Mauritius we take security seriously and we have strict rules to deny boarding to any passenger who refuses to undergo security checks.


Boarding Gate closure

In order to ensure on time departures we close boarding gates 15 minutes before departure time.

We therefore recommend you report to the gate at latest 30minutes before departure.
Failure to report to that gate at closure time may result in you missing the flight.


Passengers with onward connections.

Each airport establishes minimum connecting times. At the time of reservation please ensure you familiarise yourself with these.
Whenever possible, at your request, we will check your baggage to your final destination.
While in transit you will have to undergo security screening once again, restrictions on Liquids, aerosols and gels may apply.

In the unique setting of the lounges Amédée Maingard , the flavours of Tamarind blend into the colours of Chamarel, the guest can find all the tools of modern travelling: television, fax machines and computers with Internet.

And to make the waiting most pleasant, the highly trained and unobtrusive staff of Tamarind Lounge on the ground floor and the Chamarel Lounge on the first Floor, both housed in ‘Les Salons Amédée Maingard’, will invite you to experience the typical Mauritian spirit combining high quality service and friendliness.

A First Class lounge, the “Tamarind” , is available for First Class passengers.

Facilities include:

  • Free local telephone calls
  • Shower facilities
  • Nappy change area



For Business Class passengers- ESPACE CHAMAREL

Chamarel, whose name is given to the lounge on the mezannine, soaks up Business Class passengers into the forces of the earth and the energy released from its colours.
Facilities include: chamarel

  • Free beverage service
  • Buffet style food service
  • Satellite TV
  • Computer facilities with free e-mail and internet access
  • Photocopy, fax and telephone facilities
  • A selection of newspapers and periodicals
  • Shower facilities Nappy change area
  • Children’s corner with Video and Satellite TV

Use of electronic equipment, cellular phone or radio is forbidden on board as this may interfere with aircraft electronic equipment.

Special Needs

Special Meals

Air Mauritius offers a range of special meals for Medical and Religious purposes.

Such requirements must be communicated to us at the time of reservation not later than 24 hours before departure

Travelling with Pets

Your pets will be carried as checked baggage subject to the following:
Prior reservation is made

  • Animal is housed in a crate complying with IATA live animals regulations.
  • Documentary requirements of states are complied with.
  • Applicable excess baggage is paid (except for service animals)

Medical Cases

If you have a medical condition, please consult your doctor on fitness for travel.
Should your medical or physical condition require individual attention on emplaning, deplaning or during flight you should indicate this at the time of making your reservation.

We may require medical clearance from our doctor in case of doubt. Click here for guidance.

If you need to carry medical equipment on board, please note the following procedures

Passenger with disabilities

wheelchrAir Mauritius provides mobility aids at airports for passengers with reduced mobility.
Special arrangements are available for passengers with other disabilities.
In some cases we may require that the passenger be escorted.
You need to advise Air Mauritius Reservations of such need preferably not later than 72 hours before departure.

Unaccompanied Minors

Young passengers aged between 5 and 12years may travel as Unaccompanied Minors.

The guardian must notify Air Mauritius at the time of reservation and fill in the appropriate documentation.

Expectant Mothers

Expectant mothers may travel without any restriction up to 28 weeks of pregnancy, unless otherwise advised by their doctors.
For pregnancies beyond 28 weeks or complicated pregnancies, a medical certificate is required.


Travelling with Infantschildren_onboard

Infants may travel without a medical clearance after the first week of delivery.
Two infants travelling with one adult may be accepted for travel only if the second infant is over 12months and is able to sit in an approved car seat.
